We had a main water line leak that saturated the ground then flooded through our foundation into our basement saturating carpet in a bedroom, connected closet and partially down the hall. When discovered we used our carpet shampooer to suck up a lot of water and contacted our insurance agent who said we were covered. So I reviewed reviews on several clean up companies and chose Disaster Kleenup.  They responded very quickly, within an hour. They are in Nampa and we are in West Boise. They had a crew of 2 with their truck on site, they pulled up the carpet, pulled out the pad that was saturated and was told they sprayed microbial protection on the concrete floor although I did not see that part. They set up blowers and a couple of dehumidifiers. They were there maybe two hours.  A moisture check was made the next day which showed water in the lower part of walls, 12 to 24 inches in bedroom and connected hall walls. By then our insurance examiner had visited and said, unfortunately, our agent was wrong and seeping water from outside is not covered, which seemed to be confirmed by review of the policy exclusions.  We discussed options with DK and decided the have them remove molding and drill holes in the base to expedite drying and not remove and replace drywall. That process took a couple of hours by one worker. Fans and Humidifiers were reset. In the morning we discovered a breaker had been tripped and half the fans were off. When called, they responded very quickly. I tried to reset the breaker but it seemed stuck. The tech was able to reset the breaker and I helped him identify the basement electrical lines and he spread out the load to different lines and shut down a couple of fans. That process took less than an hour.  The fans ran more from Friday to Monday morning when a team came out to check the moisture which was ok, and remove the fans. That took about an hour and a half.  I advised that we would handle any restoration.  The whole interaction was actually very positive. They were prompt and very responsive. They were considerate of our needs. Communication was great. Because the insurance denied our claim, I believe that tried to reduce cost for us.  I have dealt with other disaster recovery companies and I would say DK is at the top of my list. Everyone was very nice and considerate. The down side is that all of these companies are overpriced for the services.  We had two people at the beginning for no more than 2 hours and two at the end for maybe an hour and a half. The other three hours (two trips) was one person. Total person hours totals about 10 hours. One of the hours was because the breaker was tripped.  There were probably 10 fans and 2 dehumidifiers and they pulled the pad for one bed room and part of a hallway and disposed of it.  Compared to most cleanups that I am familiar with this was fairly minor. The cost was $3668. I believe other services would have charged more, so in terms of reasonableness I believe they compare well with other outfits and if needed I would  use them again; however, it is the nature of the beast that disaster cleanup services are generally pricey and you never know what you are going to be charged going into it. Most of these businesses are part of franchises with built in fees which add to the bill.  In any event, I have had experience with several different companies who I would not send a cantankerous neighbor to. I have no reservation about using Disaster Kleenup and would use them again if necessary.

Disaster Kleenup (DK) was selected months after working with a national restortation company located in Boise that wasted a lot of my time, was too expensive and caused additional damage when trying to repair my laundry room that was caused from a leaking pipe from our upstairs bathroom. DK was contacted on a Tuesday, came out on Thursday for a initial assessment. The repairs were completed within a couple of weeks and provided great pricing compared to the other company. The quality of the restoration was well done and DK handled additional request within my budget.
