5-Step Removal Protocol: 

1. 2. Containment: Before any molds or moldy materials are disturbed, containing the area is critical so that spores are not distributed throughout the dwelling.  We call these containment barriers.  They are generally constructed of a disposable heavy mill plastic supported by metal or wooden poles and are air tight to the floor and walls.  A negative air machine with HEPA filtering media creates a negative pressure within the barrier and captures the spores as they are released, preventing them from escaping into other areas of the dwelling.  This step is absolutely essential.  Don’t allow any contractor to disturb mold without first constructing a containment barrier. 3.
