Do’s & Don’ts Until We Get There:

Do’s

• Always cooperate with fire officials to help determine cause and origin of the loss and follow their instructions until they have turned the property back to you.
• Once you are allowed back on the premises, check your insurance policy and then contact Disaster Kleenup to guide you through the process.
• If appropriate open windows to vent smoke odor and start the drying process.
• Wear a protective filter mask and other protective clothing as necessary.
• If temporary move-out is required, empty all food from refrigerator & freezer and discard all foodstuffs exposed to high heat or intense smoke.
• Take pictures of damage if a camera or video recorder is available.
• Start inventorying and placing values on items you feel are a total loss.
• Create a list of priorities for clothing and personal effects that can be processed and expedited for your immediate use.
• Do use care in handling fabric and delicate items as the oils in your hands can permanently drive soot into the surfaces.
• Take whatever action reasonable to protect and preserve your property from further physical damage or liability issues.

Don’ts

• Don’t enter a severe fire site without the express approval of the fire officials.
• Ash and soot can contain dangerous chemicals that can be hazardous to your health. Don’t enter a fire site without proper respirator and protective clothing.
• Don’t enter areas that have severe charring or that have been weakened by the fire damage.
• Don’t activate any electrical circuits or gas appliances until a qualified contractor/engineer deems it safe to do so.
• Don’t dispose of anything until your claims representative has had time to document non-salvageable items.

Fire Emergency Restoration Process

1. We secure the site for your protection and the protection of the public by providing: board-up services 24/7.  This could include boarding up of windows and doors that have been knocked or burnt out, tarp placement on roofs, temporary fencing around perimeter of the loss site or professional around the clock security services.
2. Once the fire department has released the property we begin immediate water removal as well as mold prevention and corrosion control services
3. In more severe cases we will relocate the personal property or inventory, and take them to our facility to clean and restore to their pre-loss condition or recommend replacement if necessary.
4. Once the demolition process is complete and all components that are deemed non-salvageable are removed, we thoroughly remove all traces of soot and smoke from the structure, including all fixtures and salvageable appliances.
5.  All damaged furniture, IT equipment, machinery, blinds, drapes, and personal belongings are transported to our state-of-the-art Nampa facility, where they are either put through our intensive, yet safe washing systems, or taken apart, thoroughly cleaned, and reassembled in peak working condition.
6. Once cleaning, decontamination, and other mitigation processes are performed, our in-house team of professional contractors will come in and restore walls, flooring, ceilings, structural elements, woodwork, etc to their original conditions: as if nothing ever happened at all.
7. We will work with you and your insurance company to help settle all claims and make the process as seamless and easy as possible.
